NorthPak Container Corporation Acquires Michigan-Based CalPak Assets
Top US Packaging Distributor Continues Rapid Growth
Glenwillow, OH - December 17, 2010
NorthPak Container Corporation, the largest US distributor of industrial rigid packaging, acquired certain assets and liabilities of CalPak Inc. in Troy, MI. NorthPak's presence in the mid-west is solidified with this acquisiton and continues to grow its presence in the southern states with the recent purchases of NPCI-II LLC and Package Supply & Equipment.
CalPak’s container distribution business began in 1969 as part of the AT Callas Company, a premier chemical distributor. Liana Callas Roberts purchased the AT Callas Company from her father a number of years ago and renamed the company CalPak, Inc., separate from the manufacturing business which was renamed CalChem Inc. Ms Roberts will retain ownership of the CalChem operation.
The CalPak acquisition represents a significant growth opportunity for NorthPak, adding expanded opportunities in Michigan. NorthPak will provide CalPak access to new product lines, suppliers and in-stock inventory as well as value added services consistent with its current offerings nationwide.
“The addition of CalPak and its employees to the NorthPak family is exciting for us,” states Mary Dahl, President of NorthPak.“Ms Roberts has built a strong organization with fantastic people focused on world class customer service. This is simply not going to change.” Dahl continues, “We are thrilled to have Chris, Jim , Dana, and Sherry, as well as Liana, lead the way in Michigan. Our entire organization will work very diligently to achieve or exceed each customer’s expectations during the transition.”
